Boys & Girls Clubs of Napa Valley Launches Campaign to Build New American Canyon Clubhouse

Napa Valley Vintners announces early Christmas gift of $2 million toward the project

12/15/2014 - Napa, CA – The Boys & Girls Clubs of Napa Valley announced today that it is launching a $4 million fundraising campaign to construct a new clubhouse in American Canyon. The Napa Valley Vintners (NVV) nonprofit trade association presented the group with an early Christmas gift by pledging $2 million from Auction Napa Valley proceeds to seed the project.

“Our dream is becoming a reality thanks to the Napa Valley Vintners," commented Mark Kuhnhausen, executive director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Napa Valley. “We look forward to other community members joining our fundraising campaign to help us meet the total $4 million goal.”

The new 14,000 square foot clubhouse, which is expected to serve 250-300 children each day, will feature areas dedicated to early childhood education, teens, technology and general education. The clubhouse will benefit not only American Canyon youngsters, but the entire community as it will have a kitchen and meeting space available for public use. The Boys & Girls Clubs plans to break ground in spring of 2016 with completion anticipated by the following winter.

“This grant is part of the NVV’s commitment to caring for our community from American Canyon to Calistoga,” said Russ Weis, chairman of the NVV Board of Directors. “It builds on the $5 million we've already invested in Boys & Girls club operations since 1999.” Weis announced the NVV’s pledge at a pizza party held today at the existing American Canyon clubhouse and attended by Boys & Girls Club members, local officials and winery members of the NVV.
