Napa Valley Vintners Announces Local Restaurant Wine List Award Winners

Program highlights area restaurants that prominently feature Napa Valley wines

3/18/2014 - St. Helena, CA--The Napa Valley Vintners (NVV) nonprofit trade association today recognized 56 local restaurants as part of its 2014 Napa Valley Wine List Award program. The awards were presented to restaurants that feature at least 50 percent or 50 placements of Napa Valley wine on their lists.

Started during the recent economic downturn, the Napa Valley Wine List Award program aims to inspire area business owners and residents to "eat, shop and drink local." The Napa Valley wine industry has a $13 billion annual economic impact on the local economy and creates more than 46,000 Napa County jobs. By buying and selling local wines, Napa Valley's restaurateurs help maintain the cycle of local business success.

Greg Cole, chef and owner of two downtown Napa restaurants and receiving two of the Napa Valley Wine List Awards, commented, "As chef and owner of two Napa Valley restaurants it is an honor to be recognized by the Napa Valley Vintners for our wine programs. For the last seventeen years at Celadon and fifteen years at Cole’s Chop House, we have been proudly featuring, selling and serving amazing wines made by our friends and neighbors."

"We are grateful for the support that the Napa Valley Wine List Award recipients show our local wineries," said Linda Reiff, president and CEO of the NVV. "It’s a benefit to all of us when we eat, shop and drink locally. It helps build the unique character of our community, creates jobs, drives our economy and contributes to environmental sustainability."

The NVV is giving each Napa Valley Wine List Award restaurant a three-liter etched bottle to display at their business and lists them all on its website and in advertising and promotional materials. Restaurants interested in learning more about being part of the program should contact the NVV at 707.963.3388.
