7/3/2013 - Napa, CA--Napa Valley, the official wine region of the 34th America's Cup, announces the Napa Valley Wine Lounge opens tomorrow at the America's Cup Park at Piers 27/29 in San Francisco. Through mid-September, America's Cup fans can enjoy wines and hospitality from America's premier wine region while watching the best sailors on the fastest boats vie for the oldest trophy in sports on the San Francisco Bay.
"We're thrilled to bring a taste of Napa Valley's wines and gracious hospitality to the America's Cup Park this summer," commented Clay Gregory, president of Visit Napa Valley. "What could be better than watching the excitement of this incredible sailing competition with a glass of Napa Valley wine in hand?"
Visit Napa Valley, the region's official tourism marketing organization, and Napa Valley Vintners (NVV), a trade association of more than 450 Napa Valley wineries, are partners in the sponsorship. The Napa County Special Projects Fund is also providing support. From now through the 34th America's Cup Finals, only Napa Valley wine will be served at all official America's Cup venues and events and visitation to the region will be promoted to those wishing to extend their stay beyond San Francisco. NVV member winery Mumm Napa is the official sparkling wine of the 34th America's Cup.
The Napa Valley Wine Lounge will be open daily at the America's Cup Park. Levy Restaurant Group will provide light bites and service in the Napa Valley Wine Lounge, which was designed to reflect the wine region's scenic beauty and farming lifestyle by Colleen Brand and Crista Winteringham of San Francisco-based Fresh Spaces. Napa Valley artist Gordon Huether created the custom bar using reclaimed barn wood and grape vines and has loaned one of his sculptures made of wine barrel rings, which will be on display in the lounge.
