12/13/2023 - Saint Helena, CA - With its latest in philanthropic giving, Napa Valley Vintners continues its investment in the people and place that make Napa Valley an extraordinary community. Today NVV announces $4.5 million in giving to 22 organizations that provide health care services, family resources and opportunities for youth to thrive and succeed.
Organizations receiving funding through the latest round of giving provide services in the areas of:
NVV's fundraising for the good of the community spans more than 40 years. The collective efforts of vintners, bidders and nonprofit partners have ensured residents receive essential health care and educational opportunities. Earlier this year, NVV raised an additional $4 million for youth mental health and environmental efforts.
"A healthy community supports the social and emotional well-being of its members, as well as the environment in which they live. We're honored to play a part in supporting our community at the deepest levels in all aspects of its ecosystems," said Linda Reiff, President and CEO of Napa Valley Vintners.
In 2023 the Napa Valley Vintners commissioned a rigorous assessment to determine the areas of most critical need in Napa County and where NVV giving can have the biggest impact. According to the study, mental health is the most pressing issue Napa County faces today, particularly among youth. Environmental disasters that Napa County has faced in recent years have only exacerbated the issue.
To address these concerns, NVV is partnering with SHINE Napa Valley to make an immediate impact on the lives of students through mental health and wellness centers on campus. It is expected that 1,000 students will visit the wellness centers and be provided services this school year.
Investments with Napa Resource Conservation District and Fire Wise are already underway to mitigate the risk of wildfires through forest health initiatives. This year NVV also supported programs such as Napa Green, Fire Resource Fair, Napa River Ecology Center, Friends of the Napa River and Napa County Regional Park and Open Space District.
NVV also recognizes the importance of a connected community. The organization invests in community engagement events that bring people together and build greater understandings of the myriad cultures that make up those who live and work in Napa County. In 2023, NVV sponsored the Napa Town and Country Fair, Meet Me in the Streets in American Canyon and Black History Month among others.
Coming up in 2024, NVV will once again host the Collective Napa Valley Auction Weekend May 31 to June 1 to continue its fundraising for the community. Through collaborative efforts with community organizations, NVV touches the lives of more than 125,000 community members annually.
