10/25/2020 - St. Helena, CA – The Napa Valley Vintners (NVV) announced today the organization is giving $8.3 million to provide essential services to neighbors during these difficult times. NVV’s strong commitment to the community will provide access to healthcare and childhood education resources for more than 115,000 Napa County residents.
This has been a challenging year for Napa County, creating greater need for those who have suffered from the loss of a job, a home that was destroyed during the fires or who have more healthcare needs due to the pandemic.
The NVV is investing in 29 nonprofit partners who are both essential to the recovery of the region and who supply ongoing basic needs. Funds are being distributed immediately to ensure that wellness care and family support go uninterrupted.
“It’s times like this that the strength of our community demonstrates our collective grit. All around us we see evidence of neighbors helping neighbors, and we’re thankful to be able to contribute to that effort. Napa Valley is truly an extraordinary place and we are proud to be able to invest deeply in the well-being of those who live and work here,” said Linda Reiff, President and CEO of the Napa Valley Vintners.
Pandemic readiness, accessibility to healthcare, quality mental health services and support for children’s learning are community concerns that are directly impacted by funding.
“A healthy community starts by caring for the most vulnerable residents, but it doesn’t stop there,” said OLE Health CEO Alicia Hardy. “Our patients and our community need extra support during this time, and even the healthiest individuals need to know they are not alone. The support that Napa Valley Vintners provides the community year after year has a real impact on our residents.”
Over the last 40 years, the NVV has invested more than $200 million in the community to provide equitable access to healthcare and opportunity for advancement in children’s education for all residents in Napa County.
Giving is made possible by proceeds from the NVV’s annual community fundraiser Auction Napa Valley. Grants will be distributed from the Healthy Community Fund, established in 1991 as a “rainy day” reserve should the Auction not be able to take place. Earlier this year, the Auction was cancelled for the first time ever due to the pandemic.
