2/26/2019 - St. Helena, CA—Unique micro-production wines from the graceful 2017 Napa Valley vintage were the stars of the show at the Napa Valley Vintners’ (NVV) Premiere Napa Valley barrel tasting and auction on Saturday, February 23, 2019. Premiere Napa Valley wines are unique selections crafted by NVV member winemakers for just one moment in time, never to be replicated, in quantities as small as 60 bottles and never more than 240 bottles. Upon release each bottle is hand-numbered and signed by the winemaker, increasing the allure of these wines for top collectors.
“If you acquire a bottle of Premiere Napa Valley wine, you’ll have a wine that only a very few other people in the world will ever have a chance to own” said Tom Jacob of Jacob Liquor Exchange in Wichita, KS. Mr. Jacob was one of 700 members of the wine trade from 30 states and 7 countries outside the U.S. who attended the sold-out event last Saturday.
Every bottle of Premiere Napa Valley wine tells a unique story of Napa Valley winemaking, exploring the nuances of particular vines, vineyard locations, specific soils, winemaking styles and collaborations, aging protocols and blending combinations.

Seventy-two percent of this year’s 187 wines from this year’s Premiere Napa Valley were from the 2017 vintage and appreciation for their gracefulness was mentioned throughout the tasting. “The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignons that were debuted Saturday are full of finesse and elegance,” noted Bill Hayes, wine category manager of BevMo! with 160 stores in California, Arizona and Washington. “They’re charming wines that express a seamlessness and long finish that will make these wines approachable early.”
Top selling lots in the live auction included offerings from: Silver Oak, Schrader Cellars, Shafer Vineyards, Duckhorn Vineyards, Marciano Estate, Raymond Vineyards, Seven Stones Winery, Rombauer Vineyards, Somnium Wine, Alpha Omega, Keenan Winery, St. Supéry Estate Vineyards & Winery, Quintessa, ZD Wines, Freemark Abbey, Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars and Arkenstone Vineyards.
