Napa Valley Wine Region Takes the World Stage at Vinexpo Bordeaux

5/17/2017 - St. Helena, CA – The Napa Valley Vintners (NVV) will again host its own wine pavilion at Vinexpo Bordeaux, June 18-21. Fifteen premium Napa Valley wine brands are sending representatives to pour wines, conduct business and host educational seminars at the Napa Valley pavilion during the international trade fair.

“We’re proud to share Napa Valley’s commitment to excellence and high-quality winemaking with the top international trade and media who will attend this year’s Vinexpo,” said Stacey Dolan Capitani, NVV’s vice president of marketing. “Although Napa Valley is known around the globe, we produce just a tiny fraction of the world’s wines. Those who visit our pavilion will have the chance to meet our vintners, taste our wines and learn more about the special place on earth we call home.”

Other features at the Napa Valley pavilion include:

  • Self-service tasting kiosks highlighting a broad selection of wines from the region’s top-planted grape varieties, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Zinfandel.
  • A large size (1 x 1.5 meter) raised relief topographical map showing Napa Valley’s unique geography.
  • Daily 15 minute “pop-up” seminars at 11:00, 13:30 and 16:00 where a Napa Valley vintner will guide a tasting of four related wines and discuss topics like library selections, Napa Valley’s French connections and the Napa Green environmental sustainability program.

During Vinexpo, NVV members will also participate in:

  • "Fire and Rain: Climate Change and the Wine Industry,” a panel discussion being organized by Vinexpo Bordeaux and Wine Spectator and featuring Kathryn Hall, former U.S. Ambassador and international trade advisor, and proprietor of Napa Valley’s Hall Vineyards.
  • A press event and wine tasting in cooperation with the Wine Origins coalition of more than 20 of the world’s leading wine regions who share the belief that when it comes to quality winemaking, location matters. At the event, taking place on Tuesday, June 20 from 9:30-11:00 in Hall 3/Room 5, the coalition will announce new members and discuss its shared values regarding misuse and mislabeling of wine place names, followed by a tasting of wines from the regional partners attending Vinexpo. NVV is a founding member of Wine Origins.

The location of the Napa Valley pavilion at Vinexpo will be Hall 1/DE-177. The Napa Valley wineries that are sending representatives include: Cardinale, Darioush, Freemark Abbey, Honig Vineyard & Winery, Inglenook, La Jota, Luna Vineyards, Morlet Family Vineyards, Mt. Brave, PEJU, PureCru Napa Valley, Quintessa, Saunter Wines, Trefethen Family Vineyards and Yao Family Wines.
