8/25/2008 - St Helena, CA-The Napa Valley Vintners (NVV) non-profit trade association is proud to announce its partnership with Stand Up To Cancer's (SU2C) "Just Stand Up," the new initiative to raise philanthropic dollars for accelerating ground-breaking cancer research.
Just Stand Up is an unprecedented gathering of the music industry's brightest female stars who, for one night, will perform for the fundraiser which will be broadcast simultaneously on the major television networks including ABC, CBS and NBC. More than fifty of the biggest names in TV, film, sports and music will be manning the phones and accepting pledge contributions in conjunction with performances by Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige. Rihanna, Fergie, Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, Leann Rimes and many others.
Just Stand Up is about the singers and composers banding together behind SU2C's mission: rallying the public around the goal of ending cancer's reign as a leading cause of death. The all-star television performance will take place on Friday, September 5th at 8pm (EDT and PDT). The networks will simultaneously devote one hour of commercial-free prime time to this nation-wide event, and it is the first simultaneous cross-network broadcast ever to raise funds for the fight of a disease.
Wines from the Napa Valley will be poured exclusively at the centerpiece, post-event party being held at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood and include: Beaulieu Vineyards, Domaine Chandon, Folie a Deux, Fontanella Family Winery, Frank Family Vineyards, Frazier, Freemark Abbey, Frias Family Vineyards, Honig Vineyard & Winery, JP Harbison, Madonna Estate, Marston Family Vineyard, Miner Family Vineyards, Napa Cellars, Provenance Vineyards, Renteria Wines, St Supery Vineyards & Winery, Signorello Vineyards, Sterling Vineyards, and Trinitas Cellars.
