Join Miljenko "Mike" Grgich and the Grgich and Hills families for this festive gala celebrating Grgich Hills Chardonnay and the 35th anniversary of the Great Chicago Chardonnay Showdown with an unforgettable evening of wine, food and friends.
In 1980 "The Great Chicago Chardonnay Showdown" brought together 221 of the best Chardonnays in the world for a historic first; the largest blind tasting of that time made from a single varietal. The first vintage that Miljenko "Mike" Grgich crafted at Grgich Hills Cellar was the 1977 Chardonnay, which emerged triumphant with a first place ribbon. He soon became affectionately known as the "King of Chardonnay."
Multi-course dinner paired with current and vintage Grgich Hills Estate wines. Catered by Cindy Pawlcyn's Mustards Grill
Entertainment by Ever Music, a local Swing Jazz band with special guest performer, Tony Butala, founding member of The Lettermen.
