Napa Valley Vintners Welcomes 500th Winery Member

Vintners and community leaders gather in Napa to toast trade association milestone

5/15/2014 - St. Helena, CA – The Napa Valley Vintners (NVV) Board of Directors approved the association’s 500th winery member at its most recent meeting. City Winery, the new wine, food and entertainment venue in downtown Napa, also produces its own Napa Valley wine, making it eligible for membership in the nonprofit trade group. Vintners and community leaders celebrated the announcement at a grand opening event at City Winery on May 12.

“This year has a lot of significance for our association,” commented Linda Reiff, NVV president and CEO. “Not only is it the 70th anniversary of the founding of our organization by seven Napa Valley wineries in 1944, but now we’ve achieved a new membership record.”

NVV members produce 99% of all Napa Valley appellation wine and 83% own Napa County vineyard land, demonstrating the trade association’s strength and leadership in representing the Napa Valley wine industry.

From promoting and protecting the Napa Valley wine region worldwide, to contributing more than $120 million to local nonprofit organizations through its annual Auction Napa Valley fundraiser, the NVV’s mission includes both global and local objectives. In 2013 alone, the NVV organized 87 marketing events providing more than 300 promotional opportunities for its members and hosted nearly 1,400 winery employees through its industry education programs.
