About Us

Founded in 1964 by English scholar Peter Newton, Sterling Vineyards sits 300 feet above the valley floor. As our guest, you will travel by aerial gondola arriving to our hilltop winery. When arriving, you'll enjoy either our self-paced tour of our winery or one of our seated reserve experiences.

Winery Features

Tasting Experience

Sterling Vineyards in Calistoga has been long held as one of Napa Valley’s landmark, “must-see” wineries. Arrive at the hilltop winery via a serene aerial tram, then at your own pace, follow a self-guided tour with informative displays, enhanced by a winemaker’s video tour, concluding with a wine tastings with sit-down table service. The Sterling staff is known for their gracious hospitality and extensive wine knowledge. Founded in 1969, Sterling has been a pioneer producer of fine red Bordeaux wines and the first winery in America to produce a vintage-dated Merlot (’69). The New York Times notes that Sterling Vineyards is “one of the most spectacular wineries in Napa Valley…”
