Napa Vintners Award Annual Scholarship to Matthew Osivwemu

College-Bound Grad to Receive $16,000 over Four Years

5/22/2012 - St. Helena, CA--At the annual Napa High School scholarship awards ceremony held on May 10, 2012 the Napa Valley Vintners (NVV) awarded graduating senior Matthew Osivwemu a $4000 per year, four year scholarship to his school of choice. The NVV received 68 applications which were narrowed to four students to interview of which the vintner scholarship committee unanimously selected Matthew as the recipient.

Matthew is a football, basketball and track player who has also been involved in the AVID program (Advancement Via Individual Determination) which helps hard-working students in reaching their goal of a post-secondary education. He has been accepted to California State University Sacramento starting in fall of 2012.

Linda Carr from Truchard Vineyards and a member of the scholarship review committee said, "When reviewing Matthew’s application I was struck by his ability to maintain a high grade point average while being actively engaged in sports including football and basketball. But mostly I was struck by Matthew's humble nature, his dedication to his education, his excitement about attending Sacramento State and what he could achieve with his education."
