1 Family, 9 Generations, 4 Continents; this is the foundation that winemaker, Bernard Portet, has built behind Heritance. The wines are elegant, accessible, complex and well balanced. Winemaker Bernard Portet is a Napa Valley icon (co-founder of Clos du Val in 1972). Mentored by his father, a régisseur at Château Lafite, Bernard represents the 9th generation of family winemakers. He uses assemblage winemaking for Heritance. It has been become his signature style. The goal is to source both grapes and wines from exceptional vineyards and different terroirs. Bernard then uses his blending skills to create uniquely distinctive wines greater than the sum of their parts. These wines showcase Bernard’s extensive Napa Valley experience and the result are wines crafted to pair beautifully with food.
