Caymus Vineyards
Caymus is located on 73 acres in Rutherford - owned and farmed since the 1940s by the Wagner family. The families of Caymus founders Charlie and Lorna Belle Glos Wagner emigrated from the winegrowing regions of Alsace, France and Rheinpfalz, Germany, respectively, and have roots in Napa Valley going as far back as the mid-1850s.
At the age of 19, Chuck Wagner joined his parents Charlie and Lorna in founding Caymus Vineyards with its first vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon produced in 1972. In 1975, the Wagners produced their first Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon made from outstanding Cabernet lots of that vintage. It is the only wine to have twice been named Wine Spectator magazine's "Wine of the Year" for the 1984 and 1990 vintages. Both Charlie and Chuck Wagner were honored with Wine Spectator's "Distinguished Service Award" for their contributions to the American wine industry.
Caymus Vineyards is still the home base of the Wagner family. Chuck Wagner's children, Charlie II, Joseph, and Jenny perpetuate a proud family tradition of farming and winemaking throughout the state of California. In addition to Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon, the Wagner Family of Wine tasting room located on Caymus Vineyards property serves and sells Wagner Family of Wine brands Mer Soleil Chardonnays, Belle Glos and Meiomi Pinot Noirs, and the classic California blend - Conundrum.
The winery continues as a working family farm and business where you might find any of the Wagners driving a tractor, shoveling a tank, pruning vines, or working in the barrel room. The Wagners welcome their guests to visit and try wines made with quality, care, and Wagner family pride.

Caymus Vineyards is the home base of the Wagner family with the Caymus Vineyards Tasting Room serving and selling the complete Wagner Family of Wine portfolio which includes Caymus Cabernets, Mer Soleil Chardonnays, Belle Glos and Meiomi Pinot Noirs, and the popular California blend - Conundrum.

Caymus Vineyards is truly a working family farm and business where you might find any of the Wagners driving a tractor, shoveling a tank, pruning vines, or working in the barrel room. The Wagners welcome their guests to visit and try wines made with quality, care, and Wagner family pride.
Appointments are required for the Caymus Vineyards formal, sit-down tasting which is limited to 10 people, 4 sittings per day, start on time, and last for approximately 45 minutes. Four Caymus wines (Sauvignon Blanc, Zinfandel, Napa Valley Cabernet, and Special Selection Cabernet) are served at this tasting in the rustic Caymus Room.
A small tasting bar serves our walk-in clientele with no appointment necessary. A flight of 3 Wagner Family of Wine selections (changing daily) are offered to our guests at a $15 tasting fee. A modest garden with picnic tables and partial shading help extend our indoor tasting space to the outdoors of the Wagner family property.
