Collectors Snap up Barrel Art Pieces at Barrel Art Napa Valley Event
Grand finale event for Auction Napa Valley 2005 Raises an additional $100,000 for local charities
10/17/2005 - St. Helena, CA. - An enthusiastic crowd of wine and art lovers filled the room at Copia on Friday evening and Auction Napa Valley 2005 finally came to a close when 25 unique wine barrel art pieces went under the gavel raising an additional $100,000 for Napa County charities.
Bidding and spirits gained momentum as well-known auctioneer Ursula Hermacinski led the proceedings. The event ended with a bang when Thomas Arvid's "ZD Barrel Collage," hosted by ZD Wines, stole the show topping the bidding at $40,000.
Barrel Art Napa Valley, the grand finale for Auction Napa Valley 25, invited 25 wineries to partner with 25 artists to transform wine barrels into unique works of art. The barrels, kindly donated by Tonnellerie Quintessence, have been on display at sponsor wineries throughout Napa Valley for the past several months. Proceeds from the event will be distributed through the Napa Valley Vintners' Auction Napa Valley grant program to local health, youth development and housing non-profits.
These one-of-kind works of art, created exclusively for Auction Napa Valley 2005, will be on display until October 25, 2005, at Copia, 500 First Street, Napa.
The Napa Valley Vintners is a professional, nonprofit trade organization representing 270 Napa Valley wineries that leads in the promotion and protection of the Napa Valley Appellation
