First Ever ‘Barrel Art'Auction To Benefit Napa Valley Charities Set to Take Place Friday, Oct. 14 at COPIA
9/20/2005 - Napa Valley Vintners, a non-profit, trade organization representing 271 wineries, will auction off 25 unique barrel art pieces at 5 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2005 at COPIA, the American Center for Wine, Food and the Arts. The Barrel Art Auction program, the grand finale for Auction Napa Valley 25, invited 25 wineries to partner with 25 artists to transform wine barrels into unique works of art. Proceeds from the event will be distributed to Napa Valley non-profits through the Auction Napa Valley grant program.
The auction and wine reception are open to the public. Tickets are $75 and can be purchased online at www.napavintners.com. COPIA is located at 500 First Street in Napa.
Wine & Art: Perfect Partners
Renowned artists, including William Wiley, Gordon Huether, photographer Kevin Lynn and Margrit Biever Mondavi, participated in the event, turning the 60-gallon oak wine barrels - into extraordinary and distinctive works of art. The barrels, donated by Tonnellerie Quintessence, are on display throughout Napa Valley until the end of September and will be moved to COPIA for final viewing before the auction.
