Napa Valley Vintners Announce Chair for Auction Napa Valley 2008

Renowned Heitz Wine Cellars Family to Host

6/6/2007 - St Helena, CA—As the action heads into full swing for Auction Napa Valley (ANV) 2007 June 7-10, the work begins on the 2008 event as chairs were announced to the Napa Valley Vintners (NVV) members yesterday by Peter McCrea, president of the board of directors of the non-profit trade association representing nearly 300 Napa Valley wineries. To rousing applause at the general membership meeting, Kathleen Heitz Myers accepted the duties on behalf of herself, her family and the winery team who will take the helm at this classic charity wine auction.

Heitz Myers said; “Our family is proud to carry on the legacy of this incredible fundraiser that brings together the best Napa Valley has to offer while doing the good work of providing for our community’s healthcare, housing and youth service non-profits.” McCrea, who also grew up in the valley, was visibly delighted to be presenting the Heitz team as auction chairs for 2008. Heitz Myers continued; “Our family began making wine 46 years ago, and a lot has changed, but the generosity of our vintners, as neighbors helping neighbors, has done nothing but flourish over the years. We are happy to continue this great tradition.”

Auction Napa Valley will take place June 5-8, 2008, chaired by Alice Heitz, Kathleen Heitz Myers and David Heitz, as well as their team at Heitz Wine Cellars. The winery was founded in 1961, when fewer than twenty wineries existed in Napa Valley. It is the Heitz family’s passion for excellence that links the generations and has allowed for the successful transition of Heitz Wine Cellars to the second generation. Kathleen and David lead the family business today as president and winemaker, respectively. Although the number of wineries in the Napa Valley has grown significantly over the years, this sibling team has kept Heitz Wine Cellars in the forefront with innovative production and business practices complemented by respect for their winemaking legacy. Together with their winery team, they look forward to hosting auction attendees in 2008.
