Napa Valley Vintners Awarded Prestigious Recognition for Auction Napa Valley
NVV Wins ASAE's 2006 Associations Advance America Award of Excellence
6/21/2006 - St Helena, CA - The Napa Valley Vintners (NVV) has won the Award of Excellence in the 2006 Associations Advance America (AAA) Awards program, a national competition sponsored by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) based in Washington, D.C.
The NVV received this award for Auction Napa Valley which over its first twenty five years has given $62 million to the Napa County community for healthcare, youth services and housing non-profits. The 2006 auction raised another $8.4 million for these programs which benefit the entire community. Much of the success of Auction Napa Valley can be attributed to the nearly 1000 volunteers who donate their time and energy during the four day event and in planning throughout the year. Many of the volunteers are staff and board members of the local agencies who receive auction grant money.
In addition, the NVV was placed on the ASAE's 2006 Honor Roll for the establishment of the Napa County Children's Health Initiative (CHI) fund, which was a $1 million grant presented in November that insures that 100% of the children in Napa County have access to health insurance. This grant from the auction proceeds was the largest single gift ever made to a CHI in California.
Now in its 16th year, the prestigious AAA awards program recognizes associations that propel America forward - with innovative projects in education, skills training, standards-setting, business and social innovation, knowledge creation, citizenship and community service. "The Napa Valley Vintners' Auction Napa Valley program truly embodies the spirit of the Associations Advantage America campaign. It is an honor and an inspiration to showcase this activity as an example of the many contributions associations are making to advance American society," remarked AAA Committee Chair Bill Bergman.
