Community members learn about vineyard practices
The 10th annual collaboration between the Napa Valley Grapegrowers and the Napa Valley vintners known as Afternoon in the Vineyards will take place on Saturday May 8, 2010 showcasing Napa County viticulture practices.
Spend a spring afternoon in the vineyards with those who tend the vines and make the wine. Walk down the vineyard rows, taste wines made from the same or neighboring vineyards - but under different vineyard practices and winemaking techniques - and see for yourself what makes Napa Valley a unique winegrowing region. Ask questions and learn about sustainable farming practices used to protect and preserve Napa County agricultural land and open space. The event is a causal (wear your boots) open house, complimentary for all Napa residents and their guests. Visit any - or all - of the locations.
Community members are invited to meet growers and winery owners in the vineyards as vines begin to bud out signaling the beginning of the growing season. These informal gatherings of residents, vineyard managers and winery owners allow neighbors to meet one another, learn about the grape growing process, and hear about environmental concerns while learning about farming techniques and strategies designed for Grapegrowers and Vintners to continue to produce exceptional Napa Valley wines.
The event is free, will take place rain or shine, and there is no need to RSVP. We look forward to meeting you!
