Celebrating California's Wine Heritage

September is California Wine Month

September is California Wine Month
Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger has proclaimed September 2008 as California Wine Month, recognizing that the state's climate, geographic diversity and talented grape growers and vintners all combine to make California the perfect place for producing some of the world's finest wines.

With more then 2,400 wineries and 4,600 grape growers, California is proud to produce 90% of all U.S. wines and to be the world's fourth-largest wine maker.

Members of Wine Institute, the Napa Valley Vintners and other regional winery and grower associations are offering special events and tours to help you enjoy the regions' outstanding wines, fresh and delicious cuisine, unique attractions and spectacular scenery. Discover new destinations and revisit favorites as you journey through California wine country. And if a visit to Napa Valley or one of California's other wine regions isn't in your travel plans, dozens of retail and restaurant partners from across the country and beyond will be offering California wine-related specials during the month of September. So no matter where you are or where you travel this September, we invite you to take part in this month-long celebration.
