More than 750 Top Wine Trade and Media Visit Napa Valley During Premiere Week

2/18/2013 - St. Helena, CA--More than 750 top wine trade and media from around the world will be in Napa Valley during the week of February 18-24, 2013 for three of the Napa Valley Vintner's (NVV) signature programs, including the Symposium for Professional Wine Writers, Experience Napa Valley, and the Premiere Napa Valley Barrel Tasting and Auction.

"Premiere Napa Valley week is both a homecoming and an ambassador-at-large gathering unique to the Napa Valley appellation," said Linda Reiff, executive director of the NVV. "While all roads lead to the excitement of the Premiere Barrel Tasting and Auction on Saturday, February 23rd, this week finds extraordinary wine writers, retailers, restaurateurs, distributors, importers and other wine business influencers from around the globe basking in world-famous hospitality, filling hotels, dining at area restaurants, and digging in deep to the wines, vineyards, winemakers, history and geology of Napa Valley."

Starting on Tuesday, February 19th, the sold-out Ninth Annual Symposium for Professional Wine Writers welcomes 65 of the world's top wine media in town for the four-day conference to hone their craft of wine writing and wine knowledge. Among the many writing and career advancement topics are a variety of wine education sessions including "China in the News and on the Palate," "Achieving Personality in Pinot Noir" and "A Comparative Closures Tasting." More than 250 NVV member wines will be served throughout the Symposium.

Also starting Tuesday, February 19th is another of the NVV's signature programs, Experience Napa Valley, which will give 20 top trade and media guests from the United Kingdom, Canada, and Hong Kong a week-long immersion on the Napa Valley appellation.

On Wednesday, February 20th the red carpet will be out at St. Helena's Cameo Theater starting at 5:30 p.m. for a special world premiere of the NVV's "Napa Valley Rocks Video Series" with a Q & A with Karen MacNeil and an array of noted vintners featured in the videos.

Giving locals and visitors alike a chance to get into the spirit of Premiere week, the NVV worked with local restaurants to create 100% Napa Valley by-the-glass wine lists through Sunday, February 24th. The list of participating restaurants can be found at www.napavintners.com/pnv, along with in-the-moment photos of Premiere preview parties, Instagram and Twitter feeds of the week's activities, videos, and come Saturday, on-the-spot updates of Premiere bidding action.

The proceeds of Premiere Napa Valley support the NVV's efforts to promote, protect and enhance the Napa Valley appellation, its wines and its community.
