Napa Vintners Announce Offerings from Premiere Napa Valley 2012 Portfolio

The World's Rarest Wines for the Bespoke Cellar

12/1/2011 - St Helena, CA--The Napa Valley Vintners (NVV) non-profit trade association of more than 420 wineries in America's premier wine region announce the Premiere Napa Valley portfolio being offered for sale in February 2012.

"Wines from Premiere Napa Valley represent some of the rarest, most unique wines in the world—and are crafted specifically for this offering to the wine trade to allow them one-of-a-kind wines for their best customers that no well-conceived cellar would be complete without," said 2012 event chair Michael Beaulac of Pine Ridge Vineyards. "The wine is sold to one wine seller in lots of 5, 10 or 20 cases--I cannot think of anywhere else in the world where high-profile winemakers at the top of their game craft such evocative, quality wines in such micro-production."

Both wine trade and savvy wine consumers can review this year's wines, mostly from the highly regarded 2010 vintage. Each wine has a story in that the winemaker is challenged to craft a wine for this collection one-time only, and only offered here. The website offers the stories of the vineyard site, the grape variety or perhaps the one-off approach the winemaker employed to make this unique wine.

Wine sellers, be they retailers, restaurateurs or wholesalers can attend the auction event in Napa Valley on February 25 to capture these gems, or place an absentee bid via the website.

For the consumer looking to enhance his cellar there are two options to consider. Wines that are already released from previous auctions are noted on the website with the wine seller's information to contact them directly to purchase. Additionally, if consumers are interested in purchasing the 2012 futures one can contact his cellar consultant or favorite retailer to bid on these offerings on his behalf in February.

To gain even greater insight into the culture of the wines in the portfolio, renowned filmmaker Mary Orlin has produced a collection of interviews with winemakers profiling their philosophy and criteria for their Premiere Napa Valley wines. Featured winemakers include Elias Fernandez of Shafer Vineyards, Tim Mondavi of Continuum, Bill Nancarrow of Duckhorn Vineyards, Ashley Hepworth of Joseph Phelps Vineyards among others.
