Napa Vintners Celebrate October 2011 as Napa Valley Harvest Month

No Matter Where You Are, Keep Up-to-Date on What's Happening with the 2011 Crush

10/4/2011 - St Helena, CA--The Napa Valley Vintners (NVV) non-profit trade association of more than 420 wineries in America's premier wine region are toasting the harvest throughout October--and beyond, bringing the celebration of harvest to the world through its dedicated website, www.napavintners.com/harvest. Here vintners are posting daily written blogs and videos of what's happening appellation-wide during the 2011 crush. The Unfiltered Blog is a wealth of information on the season from Carneros at the southern reaches of the valley to Calistoga in the north, and everywhere in between.

Vintners tell the story of the first-of-the-season, starting with the sparkling wine harvest, then lighter white wines and so on, and you can hear the excitement in their voices as they delve into the time of year that feels like the Super Bowl and New Year's all rolled into one. Winemakers live for this and each day is a high-energy opportunity to pull out the tools from their winemaking toolboxes to craft the best wines their experience and Mother Nature have provided.

Follow filmmaker Bret Lyman as he captures some incredible moments in the vineyard and in the cellar with these renowned industry leaders. Additionally, readers can test their knowledge of the Napa Valley and its wine with the fun, interactive quiz, and learn more about the varied wines--from Albarino to Zinfandel--that are produced along with the region's famed Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir.

For residents of the greater San Francisco Bay or visitors to the Bay Area and Napa Valley, the harvest website can help one plan a trip, show where to join one of the many harvest celebrations, attend a grand tasting event and even win a trip to the legendary Napa Valley!

And, all along the way the conversation is a-buzz in the "Twittisphere" with the running dialog of #NVHarvest streaming live.
