Round Pond Estate
Bob and Jan MacDonnell purchased their first parcel of Napa Valley land in 1980 and today own over 400 acres, all in the Rutherford AVA. By 1986, they were producing primarily Cabernet Sauvignon grapes that they sold to some of the valley’s most famous wineries including Beaulieu, Grgich Hills, Freemark Abbey, Franciscan, and others. From these early wines made in nearby wineries, the family learned that winemaking begins in the vineyard and that a commitment to produce top quality wines must include an integrated viticultural and winemaking program.
In 2001, Miles and Ryan MacDonnell, now managing Round Pond, produced their first wine from one of their favorite Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard blocks. The success of their first vintage, and their second generation energy and dedication to producing world-class wines, has resulted in the construction of their new, state-of-the-art winery.
Opened in July of 2007, our new winery is the realization of a longtime dream for us here at Round Pond. In addition to offering a state-of-the-art home for our small-lot winemaking, our estate winery is also a place where we can share our exceptional wines in a beautiful and comfortable setting. Whether you’re touring the property, savoring the wines in our lovely tasting room, or simply lingering to take in the view from our second story terrace, our winery offers a delightful experience in the heart of wine country. FOOD LOVERS CLUB - Receives olive oil, red wine vinegars, syrups and gift sets only. Cost $195 annually.
WINE & FOOD LOVERS CLUB - receives both our gourmet food and wine products three times yearly. Cost $430-$460 annually.
WINE LOVERS CLUB - receive both red and white wines from our vineyards. Cost $400-$430 annually.
RED WINE LOVERS CLUB - receives only red wines from our estate vineyards. Cost $500-$530 annually.

The Napa Green program is supported by a wide variety of groups including the Sierra Club, the Audubon Society, and the University of California. The Napa Valley Vintners, along with Fish Friendly Farming, the Napa Valley Grapegrowers, the Napa County Farm Bureau and others developed the Napa Green program.

Certified Napa Green Land
Round Pond Estate is certified under the Napa Green Certified Land Program. Round Pond Estate has created and implemented a customized farm plan with measured results that addressed all aspects of its property, vineyard land as well as non-farmed land, including practicing soil conservation, water conservation, stable drainage, riparian corridor enhancement, fisheries and wildlife habitat enhancement and long-term improvement and sustainability.
Certification - certification is granted by the Napa County Agricultural Commissioners Office of Pesticide Regulation, the Regional Water Quality Control board, the California Department of Fish and Game, and the National Marine Fisheries Service.

Premiere Napa Valley

Once a year the rarest new Napa Valley wines become available under one roof at Premiere Napa Valley. Wineries throughout the Napa Valley are given one task to participate: create a one-of-a-kind wine for this event to be purchased by one lucky bidder. This event is only open to select members of the wine trade and the successful bidder is the sole owner of this unique wine.
